The problem with language apps
Gamified language learning apps promise to make learning fun. But they're not actually fun - they're just dressed-up flashcards with progress bars and streaks.
People spend hours playing word games for pure enjoyment. What if that time also taught you a new language?
How it works
To play a word in your favorite word game, you must first identify its translation in your target language.
Get it right, and your word plays. Get it wrong, and you learn from the mistake. Either way, you're playing a real game - not doing homework.
Choose from Arabic, Chinese (Pinyin), French, Hebrew, Spanish, and more - each with 80,000+ words and translations.
It gets harder
As your skill improves, we show you translations that look more and more alike. The challenge scales with your ability - keeping you in the zone where learning happens fastest.
Second chances
Miss a translation? It comes back. Wrong answers resurface later attached to different words - another shot to get it right, without the flashcard grind.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is LingoBPT an alternative to Duolingo?
LingoBPT is complementary to apps like Duolingo, not a replacement. While Duolingo teaches grammar, sentence structure, and listening comprehension, LingoBPT focuses specifically on vocabulary acquisition through addictive word game mechanics. Use both together for a more complete learning experience.
How is this different from other language learning apps?
Most language apps are quizzes disguised as games - they add streaks, badges, and points on top of flashcards. LingoBPT is a real word game first, with language learning woven into the core gameplay. You're solving puzzles, not doing homework.
What languages does LingoBPT support?
LingoBPT supports Arabic, Chinese (Pinyin), French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Yiddish, and more - each with 80,000+ words and translations. We're constantly adding new languages.
Is LingoBPT free?
Yes! LingoBPT is currently in early alpha and completely free to play. We'd love your feedback as we develop new features.
Do I need to already know the language?
You should know the script (alphabet/characters) of your target language. LingoBPT focuses on vocabulary building, not teaching you to read. If you can read the language, you can play - the adaptive difficulty starts easy and scales with your skill.
How does the spaced repetition work?
There's no separate flashcard mode. When you miss a translation, the game quietly tracks it and brings that word back later attached to different English words. You get another chance to learn it naturally, without interrupting gameplay.
What platforms is LingoBPT available on?
LingoBPT is currently available as a free language web game that works on any device with a browser - desktop, tablet, or mobile. No download required.
